This admirably comfortable, brilliantly run restaurant offers arguably the best cooking in Chichester, within easy reach of the town centre and other key points of interest. Aside from the richly decorated dining room, there is a conservatory and a charming courtyard garden. Shellfish and game are specialities of the house, but should these not be to your taste there is plenty more. Classic favourites include the omelette Arnold Bennett and Pan-fried Partridge Breast with a wild Mushroom and Chestnut Sauce; such time-honoured dishes that are influenced by the traditions of an ancient Cathedral city such as Chichester. All the main dishes carry a choice of salad and baby potatoes or a selection of well-cooked vegetables and look out for the fish of the day, including Sand Sole, John Dory and Halibut.
